South Fort Myers received a one-hit complete game gem from Danny Cunningham to blank Greater Naples, 7-0, in the Section 6 Little League tournament on July 21, 2012 at Fleishman Regional Sports Complex in Fort Myers. Grant Boland smashed a two-run home run and had a double. Giovany Lorenzo belted a solo home run. Wes Perry laced a two-run double into the left field corner. Ben Specht had an RBI infield single. Cunningham had two hits as South improved to 2-0. Collin Riley delivered the lone hit for Greater Naples, which fell to 0-2.

The summer heat means sweltering days. Kids say they are bored to tears. The Collier County Sheriff's Office has the cure for those summer blahs. The CCSO has plans for a summer of fun - day and night - like Friday's free "Hot Summer Nights" event, held at Max Hasse Park in Golden Gate.
